Overview
CSV Files are a quick and easy way to upload multiple pieces of content into the Attendees Section of your Mobile Roadie CMS. Each time you upload a new CSV file, the previous information uploaded will be removed and updated to reflect only the most current information.
**NOTE** Attendees Section content that is manually entered outside of the CSV File area will not be affected by CSV files. This manually entered information will need to be removed and edited by clicking the Delete/Edit icon.
Formatting Your CSV File
Open a text editing program (such as notepad, text editor, etc...) and save the file as a .csv file. If the program you are using does not provide an option for CSV file you will need to right click on the saved file and change the file type to .csv. Or, you can download, edit, and upload our Demo CSV file here! (*NOTE To download this file in Safari and Internet Explorer, right click on the 'here' link above and select the download/save linked file option).
A valid CSV file can be created and imported into the CMS by following these 5 simple guidelines:
1. 5 Headings on the Top Row
The first row must contain 5 field names separated by commas. We recommend using the following example as your first line as these headings correspond with where each piece of information will be imported into the Mobile Roadie CMS:
**Note** If there are not 5 Headings separated by commas, the CSV file will not import correctly
2. Information Separated By Commas
Each field and piece of information is separated by commas with no spaces before or after the text.
The following contact information:
- First Name: John
- Last Name: Smith
- URL or Twitter: Smith_Twitter
- Country: USA
- Company: Mobile Roadie
Should look like this in your CSV file:
3. End Each Entry On A New Line
Hit the Enter/Return Key after entering the 'Company' information. This will reset the cursor to the left on the next line down
4. Empty/Missing Contact Information
Empty fields are okay as long as the comma delimiters are still present.
**Note** The double comma ',,' in the above example is very important when leaving out information. This tells the CMS to leave that field in the CMS Blank. If the double comma is not entered, the contact information on this line will not be successfully imported into the CMS.
5. Terminate Last Record With New Line
Make sure to terminate the last entry by pressing the return/enter key to return the cursor to the next line
- This is a common CSV file mistake, neglecting to return the cursor at the end of the last entry will result in your CSV file erroring out when imported into the CMS.
