Users can access in-app content when using the app in areas with limited or no network connectivity using our 'Offline Caching Mode' feature which allows for a batch download of content at the first application startup. This mode changes dynamically depending on what type of connection is being used in order to limit bandwidth overages. The benefit of this is that users do not have to visit each section of the app to have the content cached for offline use.
Offline caching can be enabled/disabled via the App Vitals section of the CMS. The various Offline Mode options are explained below. Note that streaming content (music, videos, etc.) are never cached.
- Default - Setting Offline Mode to this makes caching behave as in previous versions. As users navigate the app, content is cached as it is viewed. Content that has not been viewed will not appear in the app until a network connection becomes available again.
- Full Content - Text data and images are pre-cached. The user will be able to view in-app content without a network connection, except for streaming media like music and videos. Please note that this mode may trigger tremendous data usage for the user, depending on the amount and size of content in your app.
